How Cognitive Behavioural Therapy can help you
As human beings, our mood fluctuates.

We might find our energy levels have dropped and our anxiety is running high. We can worry about different things making us feel anxious and on edge.

We might also be feeling low and having negative thoughts about ourselves such as "I am not good enough, no one likes me or I am a failure”. It might feel like you are trapped in a vicious cycle of negative thoughts, feelings and behaviours. CBT is exactly what you need to help you break free of this cycle and start living again.

Alternatively something sad or traumatic happened, either recently or in the past, and we need a safe space to talk about it and help moving on.

CBT is an evidence based approach meaning it is based on strategies that have proven to help clients with a variety of difficulties and is the treatment of choice recommended by NICE guidelines.

The beauty of CBT
The beauty of CBT lies in its ability to work with the past and the present. Within CBT we often start with a timeline of events that helps us make sense of how things unfolded. We then move on to the present moment, where pain still exists, but together we can do something about it.
CBT invites you to reflect and make positives changes, so that you can start experiencing more positive thoughts and feelings.
Ultimately, the aim of therapy is to help you understand your experiences, how they might have lead you to where you are now, and what can be done going forward.

What to expect when you book
Comfort & convenience
As you will be receiving therapy online or by phone, you have the advantage of being in the comfort and convenience of your home. It's important that you are in a quiet and private space so we can talk openly and honestly.
Your first appointment
In our first appointment, we will talk about your main concerns, how you've been feeling, explore what you might wish to gain from therapy and what treatment will look like if we decide to work together.
Your choice
Following your first appointment is where you choose whether to move forward and commit, or think about your options. Your time for therapy should feel right and there is always time and space to discuss your options.
